In the early 1990s, Vladivostok emerged as a hub for the Japanese automobile trade, solidifying its status as an automotive epicenter and an emblem of right-hand drive traffic in Russia. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, the city’s renowned car market, "Green Corner," offered affordable foreign vehicles ranging from $ 700 to $ 1000, a legacy that endures to this day. Despite its longevity, the city continues to grapple with escalating traffic congestion, a byproduct of the burgeoning influx of new vehicles.
Vladivostok, per capita, rightfully earns its distinction as one of Russia’s most motorized cities. Addressing the pressing need for sustainable solutions, the leather bags featured in this project are hand-woven from recycled materials, sourced and crafted in ateliers across the Far East and Moscow. Often repurposed from discarded lunges or aged automobile covers, these materials undergo a transformation under skilled hands, emerging as stylish accessories suited for everyday wear.
